Day 5: More Corrymeela & The Beach!

Today we learned about reconciliation and how we can strive for peace in our own lives. We took some of the lessons and stories from post-Troubles Northern Ireland and learned how to apply them in our own communities.

We enjoyed a fun energizer game with one of the Corrymeela volunteers, Louisa. It was the perfect brain break to re-energize us for our conversations.

I really liked breaking into small group discussions and then bringing those conversations into the whole group. It was nice to hear everyone’s perspectives.

We had some important conversations about how we can work towards peace and reconciliation in our own communities and lives, as well as watching videos from people in Northern Ireland that strived for reconciliation and healing in and beyond the Troubles.

After dinner, I walked down to the beach that was a short walk from Corrymeela. It was one of the most gorgeous things I’ve ever seen in my life! It looked exactly like what I was picturing when I thought of Ireland, like a scene from a movie. It was truly amazing.

I took a ton of photos. Even though it was super cold, I dipped my feet in anyway, because why not? It's not every day you get to experience such a beautiful sight.

Corrymeela overall is a beautiful, peaceful place. I love how quiet it is here, and the countryside surrounding it is absolutely breathtaking.

I had a great day and I can't wait to experience more of Ireland and Northern Ireland in the coming days!
